Apple iPhone 14 Buyer Problems Fuel Galaxy S22 Ultra Sales

It has been a rocky start for many iPhone 14 owners. First a huge surge in iPhone 14 series buyers, then backorders and now major problems. 

Also big tech sites making claims of satellite phone capability and now buyers experiencing serious issues and problems. It's like an avalanche flowing down the mountain.

Earlier this week Apple released iOS 16.0.1 

Designed to address data migration, authorization and camera issues with the iPhone 14. As of 9/22/2022 the Apple company has confirmed additional known problems with iMessage and FaceTime. Apple has also announced that "iMessage and FaceTime might not complete activation on iPhone 14 and one 14 Pro" and advises that issues may still occur, even after updating to iOS 16.0.1. Yikes.

Breaking down the iPhone 14 problems

 Apple states that "After setting up your iPhone, you might experience one or more of the following issues":

• You can't receive iMessages or FaceTime calls.
• You see a green message bubble instead of a blue one when you send a message to another Apple device.
• Conversations in Messages show up as two separate threads, instead of one.
• Recipients see your messages coming from the wrong account, for example from your email address if you had selected your phone number.
• Camera is shaky and does not function properly with 3rd party apps.  Snapchat included

Snap, the maker of Snapchat, also confirmed on earlier this week that it has been "working directly with Apple" on a fix after its app, along with Instagram, TikTok and others were found to be impacted by the issue.

The problem marks the latest in a number of iPhone 14/iOS 16 launch issues, including activation problems on new phones and a slew of bugs in iOS 16 itself. Bugs are common with each new generation of iOS, but iOS 16 appears to have caused more than ever before.

And don't expect iOS 16.0.2 to be the end of the misery. The fast turnaround time means it is unlikely the release will have time to incorporate worthwhile fixes for many of the other bugs buyers are reporting. Dedicated bug fixes are typically 'minor point' releases, so iOS 16.0.3 and 16.0.4 could well arrive before iOS 16.1, which is currently in beta testing. So be ready iPhone 14 series owners. Problems are mounting here. If you're on the fence about upgrading to an Apple device you might consider holding off for now.
